The Lynn News

I have worked as a journalist at The Lynn News for three years and secured the front page in my first week at the paper. During my time there I have covered stories ranging from bomb scares to special reports on petrol prices and rail fares, I've covered events including the annual 10k run that and the passing of the Olympic torch, and I've written stories on housing disputes, charities and even a bull running riot through someone's living room. I've written countless features on local charities, walking the high wire at the circus, and giving blood, I also followed a campaign to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for the refurbishment of a local chapel.

I also contributed a weekly column about university life for over a year, which proved controversial and popular with the readers sparking lots of letters. During my time at the newspaper, I took on responsibility for writing a the entertainment section each week, which doubled in size within months and started to feature a lot more in-depth articles including behind-the-scenes features with theatre groups and West End productions, and interviews with stars including Adam Ant, West End actors and a range of musicians.

The website and social media output of the publication also came under my control, putting me in direct contact with our readers and making me wholly responsible for all online presence. Our social media following almost doubled within this time and we gained many great stories through these channels. We also received praise from the company for the quality of our website.

All articles printed in The Lynn News have been distributed across Norfolk, UK, and online with readers stretched across the globe, and many coming from America. Some of these articles have been used in national papers.
