Background
After spending the last seven months backpacking across Asia and up the East Coast of Australia solo, I'm now looking to settle in Darwin for the forseeable future to work. I have a range of experience from working with the public in many forms from journalism and media to working in bars, waitressing and working as a nanny. I'm always looking for a new challenge and would love the chance to develop my skills further.
Work experience
Bar Staff and Waitress
2014-2015
I worked part-time at The Deer's Leap pub in Norfolk for a year alongside working full time at a newspaper. My job involved serving customers, clearing tables, handling money and restocking the bar. I was hired after working the busiest shift the pub had ever seen for my trial and impressing the staff by helping to organise other members of staff and keeping the restaurant and bar under control.
Nanny
2014-2015
I worked as a part-time nanny for a one-year-old boy for around 12 months while the boy's mother was in recovery from illness, i provided the couple with much-needed support by taking care of the youngster several nights a week and some weekends. During these hours I took the boy out for walks and to play areas, we painted, played with toys and read books. I am still in close contact with the family now.
Shop Assistant
2006-2010
I worked for UK company Clinton Cards, a gift and card shop, in King's Lynn for several years around studying at university and unil I found full-time work with a newspaper for whom i worked as a journalist. In both jobs I was required to work with the public and to develop excellent customer service skills for which I won in-company awards.
